Lindsay Lohan has hit back at claims she has an eating disorder.

In an interview with Closer magazine she insisted she is happy with her appearance, despite being criticised for looking too thin in photographs.

She said: “I like the way I look – I’m not starving myself, contrary to popular belief.”

She continued: “I’m criticised when I’m too thin or too heavy.”

The 22-year-old, who broke up with Sam Ronson earlier this year, added: “We’re friends, I lost myself a bit with Sam, like many people do when they’re in a relationship.”

“I want to be on my own for a while. I need to care about myself now.”

Lindsay is one of the most photographed women in Hollywood, but the actress insisted: “I didn’t get into this business to be a celebrity – I’ve been a target for a long time.”

“When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were people who wanted to act in great movies.

“It’s all I ever wanted to do, but I’ve become this girl who’s seen as someone who parties, who wants to be photographed all the time, isn’t focused and can’t be on time – that’s not true.”
