Repentance and salvation have a funny way of twisting fate for celebrities, and for Lindsay Lohan, they threw a curveball in her face in the form of dollar bills from PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals).
After the child-actress-turned-tabloid-favorite was recently court-ordered to return to rehab for three months, with a $50,000 bill that she can’t afford, she began soliciting sponsorships and financial assistance. Only two groups stepped up — adult sex site, tube8.com, which offered to foot the entire bill in exchange for her services as a marketing consultant, and PETA. PETA offered Lohan $10,000 in exchange for her converting to veganism during her time in rehab, plus another $10,000 if she keeps the diet up for one year following her release on January 3.
“We understand that you’ve fallen on tough economic times, so we’re writing to you with an offer that we sincerely hope you’ll consider,” Special Projects Manager Michelle Cho wrote her. “PETA will help pay your $50,000 bill for substance addiction treatment if you’ll rid yourself of one more toxic substance: meat… As you know, a crucial part of any recovery is showing charity to others.
