Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan Left for Dead in ‘Scary Movie 5′ Opener

In setting up and slaying what the studio calls “the world’s hottest new couple,” this entry in Dimension Films’ series follows the on-screen demises of Shaq, Pamela Anderson and Dr. Phil, among others.

Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan have signed deals to suffer horrible fates, including getting the ax, in Dimension Films’ Scary Movie 5.

Terry Crews, who is part of the all-star cast of The Expendables 2, also has joined the production.

Sheen and Lohan will play what is being described by the studio as “the world’s hottest new couple” and with one or both being killed in the movie’s opening sequence.

Each Scary Movie has thrust a celebrity or two into its opening just to kill them in an over-the-top way. Sheen and Lohan will follow Pamela Anderson, Shaquille O’Neal, Dr. Phil and others into the pantheon of the dead.

Ashley Tisdale and Erica Ash are starring the latest movie, directed by Malcolm Leeand co-written and produced by comedy legend David Zucker. Zucker worked on the Airplane! and Naked Gun movies, and he wrote and directed Scary Movie 3 and 4, both of which Sheen appeared in.

The movie is due to begin shooting September with an eye toward an April 19 release.

Sheen is coming off a role as president of the United States in Robert RodriguezMachete sequel, while Lohan next stars as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime telefilm Liz & Dick and is shooting the Los Angeles-based independent film The Canyons, written by Bret Easton Ellis.

Crews, whose casting was first reported by Blackfilm, also appears on HBO’s The Newsroom.

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen Sign Up for ‘Scary Movie 5′

Though there may be no point to 2013′s ‘Scary Movie 5,’ it’s hard to argue they aren’t going for bang with the budget bucks as they’ve just added troubled stars Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan to the film.

This comes from E! Entertainment, who note that Lohan just signed on and may be replacing Anna Farris as the lead in the series. Though Lohan has recently been wrapped up in all sorts of scandals and lawsuits, there was a time where she proved herself to be a capable comedienne (like when she would host ‘SNL‘).

This would be Sheen’s third go-around with the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise, as he has appeared in the previous two entries. It’s unknown if he will be reprising his role as Tom Logan, which was originally a parody of Mel Gibson‘s character in ‘Signs.’ Sheen is also appearing in ‘Machete Kills,’ the a sequel to ‘Machete’ – which Lohan starred in, though does not appear in its sequel.

the film is scheduled to come out January 11, 2013, which signals that shooting will commence shortly, and that Dimension knows they’ve got a film that will likely make it’s money quickly. As per targets, the ‘Paranormal Activity’ films seem the only major horror franchise going right now. We’re guessing they’ll be lots of found footage.
